This movie beat out both Man On the Moon and Dogma for my choice of best film of 1999 in just a two hour time span. This movie is funny and yet sad. Depressing and yet uplifting. Disturbed yet made complete sense. I was amazed at how a movie could be all these things and not be a jumbled mess. The acting was terrific (especally Best Actor Kevin Spacey, I swear the man could play a potato and make it an Oscar worthy performance). The writing and direction were spectactular (Kudos to first timer Sam Mendes). The story revolves around a typical disfunctional family who are trying to make sense of their screwed up lives. I really can't say much more because you have to see this for yourself to understand how good it really is. Words do not do it justice.
