The weapon described by official sources, but never depicted onscreen, is revealed in Crimson Empire to be the same blaster carried by both Imperial and Rebel Fleet Troopers: the DH-17 Heavy Blaster Pistol. It is believed the original prop was made from a variant of the Sterling sub-machine gun used for the Blastech E-11 carbines carried by the Imperial Stormtroopers.
