my little page dedicated to, in my opinion, the most intriguing of the Greek Pantheon of Gods and Goddesses

OK, first, my collection of Images that I use for this character...
This one is the most common, and the one I usually use, but this next one's one of my favorites...

Now, last but not least, Hades in full splendor, with the thorny crown and all...

Allright, now for a little of his history. First, hades is a god, obviously. He is Zeus's brother, and was one of the first three, next to Zeus and Poseidon. The three took the three major parts of the world to rule over. Zeus became ruler of the skies, Poseidon, ruler of the Seas, and Hades, who was greedy, and extremely intelligent, took the underworld, saying "I will be the Lord of the Underworld, for everything shall die eventually, and all things will come to me."

Now, please don't get Hades confused with Thanatos, the God of Death... Hades is basically in charge of the Afterlife. Hades is not a place, but a person. You don't tell someone to "go to hades". Anyways, the underworld is not Hell, either. The greeks believed that EVERYONE went to the same place, no matter what you did. What you did once you were already there (the afterlife) depended on what you had done during your living years.

Anyways, currently there is a war going on in Olympus. Cupid, persuaded by Callisto, whom Cupid believes himself to have fallen in love with, are wagin war against Hera, Zeus's wife. Now Zeus isn't exactly fond of Hera, but he does have to support her, as he can't allow a rebellion. The rest of Olympus is torn between the two sides, with precious few remaining neutral at all. Hades is currently neutral, though as Cupid and Callisto grow stronger every day, he feels pulled to his brother's side more. He desperately wishes to remain neutral, but he can not allow Olympus to be run by Callisto, the self-proclaimed Goddess of Insanity, who isn't even a true God, as she was at one time Mortal. Anyways, that's all for now, but keep this page bookmarked, as I'll update it on a fairly regular basis...
