Channel Management.

Owning and running a channel isnt hard, but can sometimes become a tiny bit complicated. If this document doesnt help you, contact a Server administrator or Operator, to find one on a Chatspace server just type /admin in the textbox. A list of names and other info about the server should display on the chat window.

First, start by doubleclicking the chatscreen while in your room, and a new window should appear with the tabs Room Registration and Room Options.

Room Registration: This tab can only be used by owners, because it contains the Welcome Message Setup, Moderator List, Add Moderator/Voice/Member Function, Room Passwords and Transcripts (text logging) settings. They pretty much explain themselves when opened, so give them a try.

Room Options: This may only be used by Moderators and Owners.
This tab contains the room settings, Room Topic and Banlist.
To enable each mode, type in its textbox or check its checkbox.
Remove the text or check to disable it.
These will be explained further below.

Channel Settings:
Another way to set channel modes, type /mode #ROOM +MODE into the editbox of the main chat screen and press enter.
example: /mode #Lobby +s

To remove a setting, do the above command but use - instead of + its that simple.

The modes are:
i - Invite Only. sets the room to where users must knock, and a Room Moderator must answer the knock for the user to enter the room.

s - Secret. Only Administrators and users already in the room can see it.

n - No External Messages. Users are able to send messages on this server to each other, and entire rooms. This mode disables room messages in any room its set.

t - Moderated Topic. This mode sets the room to Only Moderators and Owners may change the rooms topic.

k - This mode is to set a password on the room. You must type the password after the +k or -k. example: /mode #Lobby -k br0
This command should only be preformed by the room Owner, or with the room Owners say so.

m - This setting silences anyone that does not have Strict Moderation Voice or above in the channel its set in.

l - this mode sets a limit of users allowed in the room.

p - Sets the room to Private, allowing only Adminstrators, Owners and Members of the Moderator list to enter.

b - Sets a ban on a nickname, UserID and/or IP.
example: /mode #Lobby +b Dave!lite@*.ipt.aol.com

Another way to ban like above is to do /ban Dave!lite@*.ipt.aol.com in the textbox of the main chat window.

Kicking a User. This may only be done by Moderators and Owners in a room. to kick a user type /kick nickname
example: /kick Dave
sometimes you have to add the the #ROOM before the nickname, but that should only be needed if you're on an applet other than mine.

Bans can be removed in the Room Options tab, there will be a list, with a delete button to the right of it, that is the banlist. Highlight a name and press the delete button to remove a ban.

Commands That may be used by Owners and Moderators:

Kicking Users- to kick a user type /kick NICKNAME MESSAGE

Banning Users- to ban type /ban NICKNAME or /ban @*.HOSTNAME
Removing a ban- /mode #ROOMNAME -b NICKNAME or /mode #ROOMNAME -b @*.HOSTNAME

Quiet Status- to quiet a user type /mode #ROOM +q NICKNAME or /mode #ROOM +q @*.HOSTNAME
Removing Quiet Status- to remove Quiet status type /mode #ROOM -q NICKNAME or /mode #ROOM -q @*.HOSTNAME -----More to Come----- 1
