Grace: Please. JustSee, in your car the other day I just felt like there was thisconnection, that I couldnt put into words, and then you put it into words. You did it for me. Look, I did something which I obviously shouldnt have done, okay, but Im glad I did it, because now I knowthat Im not alone!
Mr. Dimitri: Thanks for doing such a great job today.  You were very persuasive.
Grace:  "I don't even know what I said."
Dimitri:  Well, trust me, because of what you said the Gay/Straight Alliance will get the funding to have that dance.
Grace: I dont care about the stupid dance.  I don't care about the Gay/Straight Alliance.
Dimitri: "I know you don't."
Grace: "What else do you know?"

Dimitri: "I know you took my book.  It was stupid of me not to just let you borrow it. The thing is, Grace, we're not friends."
Grace: "I know that."
Dimitri: "I mean, you CAN'T just drop by my house like that."
Grace: "I know."
Dimitri: "If circumstances were different, I'd like nothing more than to be your friend. I'd WANT you to drop by my house. I'd lend you my book of poems I wrote when I was in my twenties which I'm now embarrassed by. I'd want you to call me August and not Mr. Dimitri and we would sit and talk for hours, but we CAN'T do that. We can't be friends."

Grace: "I know, I know. Just stop saying it. Please...So, that was your girlfriend last night?"
Mr. Dimitri: "And you SHOULDN'T be asking me questions like that!...She
was my girlfriend, a long time ago, in college. Now we're just...friends."
Grace: "Oh."
Mr. Dimitri: "You'd better get out of the car now."
Grace: "Why?"
Experience is the Teacher
Grace: Socan we just.... not go to the movies?
Dimitri: No, we cant.
Grace: Please. Okay, I know Im doing this really stupidly"
Dimitri: No, you are doing this alarmingly well and Im extremely honored, however"
Grace: Oh God! Dont say that. Okay? Ive given this a lot of thought.
Dimitri: Grace, listen to me, okay? We really cant be late. Come on,  Its a ground-breaking film. Its part of your education. See, Kurosawa takes one event and he plays it over and over and over from four different points of view. You can really see how each person has their own view of what happened.
Grace:I made a total fool of myself just now, didnt I?
Dimitri: Well, thats not how I see it.
Dimitri: Wait a second. Its still pretty cold out.
