| Ambassador to the government of Betazed, and Deanna Troi's mother. Lwaxana is the daughter of the Fifth House, Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Riix, and heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed. Lwaxana, a full Betaziod, married a Starfleet officer, Ian Andrew Troi, and the couple had two children, Kestra and Deanna. Kestra died at an early age, while the other, Deanna Troi, became a Starfleet officer. Ian Troi died when Deanna was seven. Lwaxana became a full ambassador to Betazed in 2365, and represented her gavernment at the Pacifica conference of that year. At about that time, Troi entered what is known in Betazed culture as "the Phase", during which a woman's sexuality matures and her sex drive quadruples. Lwaxana became engaged to marry Minister Campio of the planet Kostolain in 2368, but the wedding was canceled when Campio could not accept the Betazoid custom of conducting the ceremony in the nude. |
