| A Starfleet systems diagnostic engineer who transfered to the Enterprise-D from the USS Zhukov in 2366. Lieutenant Barclay was an extremely talented engineer, but was timid and awkward in social situations. Noted as having reclusive tendencies, Barclay compensated for his shyness by devising a rich fantasy life inside the holodecks. In these fantasies he would re-create images of those crewmates in bizzare settings that he controlled. Geordi LaForge helped Barclay overcome the need for such escapes by encouraging his sense of self-worth. |
