MOAB ART: Desert Images

Of his recent landscapes inspired by the challenging geologic forms and vibrant colors of the Moab area Pirro had this to say; "This is where the earth speaks most clearly to me. Nature's forces and rhythms, and the power of wind, rock and water create monuments that are a tribute to the amazing beauty and grandness of nature... This truly humbles me. I now realize that I can't hope to duplicate nature, I can only strive to use paint and pastel in a pleasing and personal way... and using pastels to depict sandstone seems the perfect match of technique to topic- it really pulls the poetry out.".
A 1984 recipient of the Koenig Award to a Connecticut artist, Pirro's work is represented in private art collections in 8 states. He received his Master of Fine Arts degree from Idaho State University and is currently represented by the Tara James Gallery and Piccolo Gallery in Pocatello, Idaho. And formerly by The Sagebrush Gallery in Salt Lake City, Utah.
