Describing his artwork, Pirro says it is the accumulation of all his experiences, ideas and beliefs.
"For me, painting has become more than an expression of myself, the illustration of ideas, or simply an arrangement of form,"
he explained. "It is an amalgam of all those concerns and an ongoing process of discovery and evolution that demands the union of intuition and intellect. This allows me to explore many diverse issues and create an 'Art of Questions'."
Working in this manner he is able to draw upon the visible world for inspiration, and also the personal, symbolic, abstract and imaginative one within to form a transcription of inner and outer awareness. In doing this, he creates a "non-strict image" for interpreting the complexity of the world within a rich tapestry of painterly devices to engage the viewer.
Also of concern to this artist is the integration of previously irreconcilable artistic traditions, and the skillful synthesis of many opposing artistic styles, theories and techniques. In this way his work can function as an "Icon of Reconciliation". Because he has acknowledged the plurality of his intents and references, and because his paintings assert the qualities of abstract, symbolic, and representational pictures simultaneously, he has termed the work "Maximal". --ISJ-'89
