I've been interested in art since I was a kid. I loved Saturday morning cartoons (...and still do). It wasn't long before I developed a love for art. At age 6, I started tracing my favorite cartoon, Snoopy, and soon moved on to others. I loved to draw then and I still do now.
However, by high school, I went through a hard time. Some of my so-called
"friends" weren't really friends at all, but I still socialized with them and walked in
the wrong direction. We loved heavy metal music, which seriously altered my point of view. What was once Snoopy, was now turning into severed bodies & skulls.
By that time, my art had grown and developed. It had become more realistic and serious. I emphasized on the human face and it's structure. Yet, my drawings only showed one thing: death. It was clear to see that my life at that time, seemed pointless, and I was unconciously contemplating suicide. What looked like "cool skulls" to my friends was actually a deep cry for help. I became critized for my art, and therefore became innerly hostile and anti-social.
However, some of the best friends I had then all had one thing in common: they were Christian. I remember giving them a hard time for praying for their food, and for not saying bad-words, and for not doing the bad things that I wanted them to do. And, while I was headed in the wrong direction, one of them told me the story of Jesus. He told me that Jesus loved me. God knew what I was going through and He wanted to help.
I was a very defensive at first, just like anybody would be, if they were told that
everything bad they are doing is wrong, and that it's called sin. The bible says that
the wages of sin is death, BUT the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our
Lord. All we have to do is ask Jesus to forgive us, and let Him inside our heart.
Jesus said "Behold, I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears my voice and
opens, I will come in and shall dine with him". That just simply means He wants
you to open your heart and get to know Him.
So I did.
My life is all better now. I have found what I was looking for. My art now
reflects the new life that He has bestowed upon me, and I'm ever so thankful.
Sure, I'm not the best, but what I have now belongs to Him.
