| Chin na is a Chinese seizing and controlling art. It is a method of protection used by controling and restraining and opponent. Japanese styles like Jujitsu and Aikido are based on the same principles as this Chinese art, of Chin na. Wing Chun and Chin na. Southern martial art styles generally speaking (for there are northern styles which emphasize this), specialize in close range fighting and have superior hand techniques. Wing Chun as an example trains highly on short range fighting and sticking or adhearing to an opponent with the hands and legs. This lets the Chin na techniques, flow better and therefore before an opponent realizes a technique is being applied it is finished. Using Chin na in a combat situation, also helps you reduce the margin of error that you would have by just punching and kicking alone. This will help you control your opponent for certain types of attacks. To apply Chin na techniques in combat it takes a higher level of proficiency in your martial arts, this is because your opponent will always be moving and the attacker will not just allow you to apply a technique. What you may have to do to apply your Chin na sucessfully is to strike your opponent first, so this way it distracts the opponent and you can sucessfully apply you technique. Remember that the technique you use will depend on the way your opponent reacts, and there are no perfect techniques. Chin na techniques must be applied skillfully, quickly, powerfully and must adapt to any present situation. Chin na can be divided into 5 catagories; 1.Fen Jin (dividing the muscle/tendon) 2.Cuo Gu (misplacing the bone) 3.Bi Qi (sealing the breathe) 4.Dim Mak (pressing a vein/artery) 5.Dian Xue (cavity press) |
