| What does resonate mean? According to Dictionary.com: resonate ( P ) Pronunciation Key (rz-nt) v. resonated, resonating, resonates v. intr. 1. To exhibit or produce resonance or resonant effects. 2. To evoke a feeling of shared emotion or belief: It is a demonology [that] seems to resonate among secular and religious voters alike (Tamar Jacoby). 3. To correspond closely or harmoniously: Symbolism matters, especially if the symbols resonate with the larger message (William Greider). What does resonating God's Glory mean? I think it means being in harmony with His Glory, or reflecting His Glory in my life. I know that Joanna on Survivor: Amazon, a self-professing Christian, was definitely NOT resonating God's Glory when she was yelling at her teammate, Christy, for talking about her behind her back. "Christians" like Joanna are the reason why people get turned off by Christianity. They go on National TV telling everyone that they are Christians and they love God, yet they don't act Christ like. So what if they pray before the eat meals on National TV, so what if they make a big fuss about idols and stuff on National TV. Jesus said, "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." (John 13:34-35) Paul said, "Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves." (Romans 12:10) Paul also said, "If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing." (1 Corinthians 13:1-3) Yes, I am ranting at Joanna, because I feel that she has given us Christians a bad rep. Yet, am I in a position to judge her? There are many times that I have not resonated God's Glory. Times when I yelled at bad drivers, complained when things are not going the way I wanted. Yes, Christians are all weak, imperfect human beings too. But the beauty of it all is that God loved me enough to send Jesus to die for me, despite my imperfections. God initiated everything, it is not what I did that made Him love me. He loves me even if I did nothing. What I do now - serving in Church, worshipping Him, singing, loving people - is a response to His unconditional love for me. He did not promise me rosy paths and sunny days all the time, but He promised that He will be with me always. So how can I resonate Gods Glory? When Moses came down from the mountain after speaking with the Lord, his face was radiant. In fact, whenever Moses spent private time with God, his face became radiant afterwards. (Exodus 34:29-35) Why was his face radiant? It is because he was spending time with God and worshipping Him. By worshipping God, Moses started to reflect and resonate Gods Glory. Therefore, when I worship God, I will be transformed by Him, and I will start to reflect and resonate Gods Glory. What is worship? I think we all know. Romans 12:1-2 sums it all up, Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God--this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is--his good, pleasing and perfect will. My purpose on earth now is to be continually transformed by Him, so that I can one day reflect and resonate His Glory perfectly. It means that life will not be easy on earth, but my hope is in eternity, and I look forward to the day when "every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." (Phil. 2:10-11) Are you resonating Gods Glory in your every day life? |
