An open-top double decker bus adorned
with garish yellow advertisements for a Mexican beer, drives over the crossing.
A stereo on board booms with the sound of a female Latin voice proclaiming
'La Vie est Fiesta'. The traffic follows, confused tourists jay walk at the
lights in its wake. On the far side of the road between the newspaper stand
and the cafe menus, a four-man South American busking band, replete with the
obligatory pan pipes and acoustic guitars, is between sets. The singer picks
up the song that came from the bus and gradually the band also find the tune
as the traffic noise subsides and the green man lights up.
