The Story of the Loop
The Beginning:
The story of the Loop can be dated back to the Summer of 2000.  I had begun caddying at Alpine Country Club just before school got out, so I was still learning the ropes.  All the older caddies talked about their loops, and the normal question was Whats Your Loop?  I later found out that a loop is the amount of people you are caddying for, who the people are, if you are caddying putters or bags, and for how many holes.  Another name for caddying is Looping, like you would say Are you looping at Alpine today?.  I never really mentioned the word Loop outside the club.  Towards the end of the summer, we were organizing our fantasy football league, and my team needed a name, so because I couldnt think of anything else, I named my team The Loop, which no one had any clue about.  That year we needed 2 more guys to fill our league, so we called Tim McDonough (aka Todd Pratt) and Ryan Dick (aka RCD).  We didnt know them that well at all, but they agreed to join.  In school, Tim would call me by Loop instead of Matt, because he only knew me through Fantasy Football, so that is how he thought of me.  This quickly caught on with the other members of our league, and soon into other friends I had.   I will also have to mention that I when I say the word What in response to someone calling my name, Loop, that I sound like a duck.  So Loop and what became closely related.

The Continuing Saga:
Tim, Rye, and I became actual friends through the year, but both continued to call me Loop, just because it was what they called me all along.  Gas picked up on the use of it during the Summer of 2001.  It also started to spread to family and other friends.  The 2001 Summer is where it all picked up the pace.  A Loop T-Shirt was created using black marker, I stopped referring to myself as Matt and became known as The Loop in my own mind, and when I got my cell phone, I asked for the last 4 numbers to spell out LOOP (5667 on your keypads), which I received.  The Fantasy Season started, and I used The Loop as my name again, but then changed it to The New Loop after starting 0-2, but then went back to The Loop.  Somewhere between the summer and the middle of the Fantasy Season, Rye and Tim started saying Youre the Best after I would tell them about anything good I did or when I did something for them.  That also became pretty popular, so for the final week of the fantasy season, in which I needed to beat the highly favored Todd Pratt team to get in the playoffs, I changed my name to Loop is the Best.  I beat Tim 153-150 to get in the playoffs, then upset the Rye Doggs in the first round by blowing him out, and finished it off by beating the Commies (Sanacore) by 47 points, another blowout, to pull of the greatest run in XFFL (The League) History, and win the my 3rd XFFL Title.  I truly was the Best.

The Best Idea:
I had always thought of making my own website, but never did it because I never felt like it.  Finally, I just said what the hell, and starting building it.  Luckily enough, I was able to find a good domain that included the now worldwide known Loop is the Best.  Seems like people like the site, and about hearing from The Loop, The Best, whatever you want to call me, so I am going to keep it running.

That was the complete story of the Loop.  If you have any questions, just click either of the links on the home page to ask.
