| Sept. 8,2005 It's odd the way this programme works - one of my sponsees just said yes to their first sponsee yesterday - and so the recovery goes on, one person at a time:) When this happens it give me pause to think about service and working with others - before coming to programme my normal reaction to someone's issues was to run or solve - either say it's your issue, nothing to do with me - or try to fix it - or fix them! - to say this is what you should do...... But in programme, you tell me just to share my OWN Experience Strength & Hope - now that is kinda hard - to not say "you should do this", but "well, when something similar happened to me, I did this, and this happened". That is a lot harder to be honest - but - it actually works:)) hmmm - just occurs to be that it one of the step 9 promises isn't it - "no matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience will benefit others" (from memory) Because when I tell people what to do, they may or may not do it - but it's about me, not them. when I share about me, then they can see how it applies to them - or not, of course! it then becomes them, not me:) And it is strange - I was talking to someone just the other day and an incident that happened to me came into my mind - but I could not see the relevance to the situation - but I shared it anyway because I trust my HP to put the right words into my mouth. And it meant something to the person I was talking to, coz they related it to something in their lives - so HP came up with the right words again:) - OH! is that another promise? intuitively know how to handle situations that used to baffle us:) So I pray for the willingness to do the next right thing today, and I pray that my sponsee will be the exact sort of sponsor they should be:) oh! and that all of you have a HP filled, abstinent day:)) Derek Only I alone can do it, but I can't do it alone |
