new pic, i am around 204 |
i wrote a short history of my programme for a friend and am including it here.
for my programme today, i called my sponsor, followed my food plan, was of service, read loop mail, tenth step, reported my food, had a great chat with an oa friend.
i am 37, with a boy 8 (max) and a girl 5(ariel). i have been married to my husband for 11.5 years.
i came to oa in 1994 at 233 pounds. i have been in programme all that time, but most of that time i have had the loop as my biggest oa contact. i have lived in hamilton, toronto and boston since coming into programme, and while the local rooms have changed over the years, i am on the loop way more than i am off it.
during much of my time in oa, i was largely not willing to do the things i needed to do to remain abstinent. i had periods of abstinence, but until i got serious about working the steps and having a programme, i was incapable of prolonged, losing abstinence. i guess i never understood those who commanded me to 'put down the food!' if i could have done that, i never would have gotten to oa...i'd a gone to weight watchers!
anyways, three years ago, through the loop, i found a sponsor who has what i want. i utilized her esh sporadically for a couple of years, and then fourteen months ago, i was struck abstinent at a region six convention, and i have been very consistent about nearly daily contact since. i have lost about 70 pounds from my top weight of 270 (sad to say achieved in programme when not willing to do what i needed.)
i do a lot of things for my programme daily. i write to the loop most days, report my food, call my sponsor, do a tenth step, try to get a meeting in once a week, am of service on the loop and in as many ways as i can find on a daily basis. i do step work when needed, and practice an attitude of gratitude as often as possible.
