| HELLO WHEATFRIENDS! This page is dedicated to sharing our experiences at the Wheatland music festival.. We had a muddy fun 2001. We played more music than we watched. Tarptown made its debut, and it was a success, only to grow bigger next year. We made it once again the 2000 festival, and we had a great time as expected, since anyone who has been there knows that it is very difficlult to have anything but a good time. It is just such a special place, that it is difficult to put into words, in a way that does it justice. We had some new wheatfriends this year, Jason and George, who camped with us this weekend, wheatland 'virgins'. We all got to the festival by 4pm Friday to set up camp and we actually saw all of the beginning acts. We met some more of our friends later at the dance tent, Ryan (another first timer), Dom & Cara, and Bill and Heather. On Saturday, Karrie brought down chairs and a blanket at 6 am (thank you from all of us) right down in front, along with our new double chair. it was my first time sitting on the chair side and we watched Ira and his "dynamite." Saturday night we watched Tim O'Brien and the Crossing-excellent performance. After that we cooked a great dinner, Beans and Rice from Liz and Jason, and Portabello's from Karrie. Steppin' in it played a late set for the teen dance and anyone who caught it was glad they did, not only are the band members talented, but they have a great bassist, way to go guys! For the 1999 fest,We arrived at the LOST WORLD (click to see it) Friday night at 9pm and united with Lisa and Liz, who we were sharing a site with. After we set up, we hurried as fast as we could to the main stage where we knelt by the main fence and caught Barton and Sweeney. Definetely one of the best this year. When they finished their set we wandered around for a while, which I think is one of the most fun things about wheatland. By the end of that night and the next morning we found all of our freinds...Bill G, Nan, Graham, Gretchen and Dom to name a few. We continued to dance it up cajun style until we decided to wander for any musical opportunities in the campsites. It was a cold night, which may have kept many from bringing their instruments out, but instead practicing other forms of expression (beer maybe). There were still many fine musicians to be seen and heard. Of course, the porta potty blues band was going strong as always. |
