| We need the help of some Wheatland veterans here. Some people I have met have actually been to every festival since its induction, or since they were born. I would like to post some personal histories of the festival and its early years, such as the clips in the 2000 festival program. If this interests you, or you know where some of the information exists, please email me. If you have anything that you would like posted here, please let me know if you would like me to use your name. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| We all know that the mission of the Wheatland Music Organization is to preserve and present traditional music and arts, the stuff we love, love to hear, and love to learn more about. We are curious about the history of some of the more personal things about Wheatland. I have some questions that I would like to find more out about this wonderful festival. Here are some things I know, don't know about, and things at this point can only be speculated (by me). Email me with any corrections or additions. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Wheatland 2000 was the 27th annual show. | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Where did the names of the camping areas originate? | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Campground names came from some of the performers at early festivals. These performers and their respective camps (in parenthesis) are The Lost World String Band (Lost World Camp), The Hot Mud Family(Hotmud Holler), De Dannan (DeDannan Camp), Henrie Brothers (Henrie Brothers Camp) | ||||||||||||||||||||
| The original stage is currently the Kids Hill stage. I was at the first festival that showcased the new stage. How was this moved, or was it? Was there another stage used in the meantime? | ||||||||||||||||||||
| "The old stage was moved to kid's hill entirely by volunteers. The new stage was built between festivals, also by volunteers." "The old stage at Kids Hill is formerly the Main Stage, with the front "porch" much smaller now. It was last used as main stage for the 24th Annual festival, in '97, with the new stage ready for the 25th annual blowout." |
