In Memoriam

1949-1999

In memory of my dear friend Doug. 

Your life was so fragile, your heart so tender

We met on a day when you needed a friend.

I reached out with my Angel wings and just hugged you so gently

So afraid you'd break like a tender reed being tossed in the wind.

We'd talk for hours about anything and everything. 

Never did we have a dull moment of silence.

We laughed and we cried.

We joked and we spied.

But most of all we cared. 

How I looked forward to your upcoming visit.

Was planning such festivities in which to partake.

Never, ever feeling for a moment

that it would be just a dream.

How will I ever see your name without my heart breaking.

I will miss you my dear friend.

Rest now in peace. 

You finally found your peace you longed so much to find.

Doug, you will always and forever be in my heart and in my mind.

Sweet dreams dear friend.

G'nite, pull those covers up tightly.

One final tuck in, and a kiss on your forehead so that you will never forget me.

Sleep now and rest.
