| This little church is located along the highway at Virgina City, Va. Built by the families that lived in the Russell Creek Coal Camp about 1895, they were of the Presbyterian denomination . About 1922 after it had sat unused for years a missionary by the name of Mary Martin began holding services in the little white church. My father remembers it as the Mary Martin Church. Services were held there until about 1970. At one time the church sat back on the hill from where it is now. When they began strip mining in the area it was moved to it's present location. |
