RULES & PROTOCOL

A. ENTERING THE DOJANG
  1. Students should be in full uniform when they enter the Dojang. Full uniform consists of the dobok and the club t-shirt. Remove all watches, rings and accessories before class.
  2. Upon entering, the students should bow to the Instructors, then to the Seniors even though class has not yet started.
  3. The student should then go to the back of the Dojang and practice his patterns and techniques until class begins. If he/she needs help, he should approach the Instructor or seniors so that he/she can perfect the techniques.

B. ENTERING CLASS
  1. When lining up, the students must line up with their Senior belt to their right. If both students have the same belt, then the most senior is the student who took the grading first. If both took it at the same time, then the most senior is the one who has been training longer. If both trained equal time, then the most senior is the oldest by age.
  2. If a student is late, then the student must first come to the front of the class, bow to the Instructor and give their excuse, then bow to the class before taking their place at the back of the class.
  3. Students should not be late unless they have a very good reason.

C. ASKING QUESTIONS
  1. If you wish to ask your Instructor or Senior a Question, bow to your Instructor or Senior first, then ask the Question, before bowing again and thanking them.
  2. If you need to leave class once class has started, ie. you need a drink, want to rest, etc. go to the front of the class, bow to the Instructor, tell him what you want and if permitted, bow again and only then rest.
  3. If you are in class and want to ask a Question, put up your hand. When your Instructor queries you, bow to your Instructor, ask your Question, then bow again upon receiving the answer.

D. TRAINING
  1. Students must concentrate and give their upmost during each training.
  2. If your Instructor gives you an order, you must obey immediately.
  3. Students are not permitted to talk during training. In order to perfect the art, you must be focused at all times.
  4. Do not try to help or advise another student when standing in class unless told to do so by your Instructor - you are not the Instructor.
  5. Always be humble. Unless you are the Instructor or have been given some students by your Instructor to correct, you are in no position to tell someone that their technique is wrong.
  6. If you need to adjust your dobok, turn to the back, adjust your dobok and only then turn back to the front.

E. RESPECT
  1. Always acknowledge your Instructors and Seniors inside and outside the Dojang. When meeting them, you should always bow as a sign of respect.
  2. Please do not call your Instructor by name, whether inside or outside the Dojang. Call them "Teacher" or "Instructor".
  3. Always respect the Dojang and take care of the training equipment. Training equipment is expensive and bought especially for your benefit so please appreciate it.
  4. Always help the Instructors set up the Dojang and pack up all the Equipment after class - this is especially true for Black Belts and Seniors.
  5. Respect your dobok and belt. Do not play with the belt. Once class is finished, fold your Dobok in the correct way as shown to you by your Instructors and put it away.
  6. Always respect your fellow student. These are your brothers and sisters while in the Dojang.

F. TOURNAMENTS
  1. All students from yellow belt and above must take part in Tournament as part of their natural progression. Tournaments teach teamwork, focus and achievement through hardwork.
  2. Higher belts, and especially black-tips who wish to grade must show results in Tournament and must follow the Tournaments, ie if you can't win as a Black-tip how are you going to win as a Black Belt.
  3. All food and transport is provided to LMTC students during tournament. Outstation tournaments are heavily subsidised so that students have a chance to compete. All sparring and necessary equipment is also provided by the Instructors to competing students.
  4. Intensive tournament training is held a few months before each Tournament.

G. GRADING
  1. Grading is not automatic. You must be up to standard before you can grade.
  2. Black-tips who want to become black-belts must not only demonstrate a high level of skill, but also a humble and courteous character and a high level of loyalty and maturity. The minimum waiting time of 6 months is the minimum time and not the maximum.
  3. Centralised Grading is held several times every year.
  4. Belts are presented to successful students by the LMTC Instructors after each grading. The belts are given to the students free of charge. This is because the Instructors want the belt to be something precious you wear with honour and not something you buy off the shelf. The belt itself means nothing if the person wearing the belt knows nothing. So in LMTC, you do not buy the belt. Your Instructor buys the belt, then presents it to you in a special ceremony. Wear your belt with honour and integrity - the way it was meant to be worn.

H. VISITING OTHER DOJANGS
  1. You are not permitted to visit other Dojangs without your Instructor's permission.
  2. Please refer to your Instructor for submission of all forms and for all pending courses. Do not submit any forms or enter any course yourself without first consulting your Instructor. Remember, whatever you do reflects on LMTC. The courses must be recognised by MGTF or PSTA.
  3. You are not permitted to join any other Taekwon-do Centres while training under LMTC or any of its centres. If you are a member of one of the LMTC school centres, you can join the additional LMTC sunday class free of charge.
  4. You cannot join another Taekwon-do Centre not under LMTC and still train with the LMTC Centres. You can only be loyal to one - and we take our loyalty and tournaments very seriously.
  5. If you choose to train with a Taekwon-do centre not under LMTC - and without the express permission of your Instructor - it will be accepted that you no longer wish to train with LMTC and you will no longer be recognised as one of our students.
  6. Students who leave LMTC because they chose another Centre cannot return.
  7. If you are however going outstation or overseas, you are encouraged to continue your training with a Centre there and come back to us during holidays and when you finish your course.
  8. Even if you just want to join another art, ie.aikido, kung-fu, etc., it is courteous to ask your Instructor's permission and advice beforehand.
