Misión Montana Vista
Tapscotts’ newsletter for May-November
2005
Grace and peace! It has been
an embarrassingly long time since I wrote a newsletter, but I finally sat down
at the computer to share with our fellow prayer warriors what’s happening in El
Paso. First, we are absolutely thrilled, elated, excited, overjoyed, to have
two, yes TWO new sisters in Christ! You may recall praying for Sylvia oh-so
long ago. She’s been coming with us for almost two years, but never made a
commitment. Finally, on October 27, she decided to give her life to Christ! The
interesting thing is how this happened.
Alicia has been studying
with another lady named Marta, who has been really excited about changing her
life and being a good mom. So she finally decided to be baptized on October 27.
Kevin invited Sylvia to come along to see Marta’s baptism, and “jokingly” said
she could get baptized too while she was there. Sylvia said, “Okay, I will!”
and she did!

And what wonderful sisters
we now have! Sylvia has always been a hard worker—cleaning people’s housing
when they’re sick, making food for folks, and going to visit shut-ins—now that
she’s in Christ she can continue doing these things while sharing the good news
about her faith in Him!
As for Marta, she is on fire
for the Lord. As we all know, Satan is never happy to lose someone to Christ.
She has been facing persecution from her husband and his family, but she has
taken a firm stand, telling them that she knows she is doing what’s right. What
an encouragement these two ladies are to our family here at Montana Vista, and
I pray this will encourage you as well.
More exciting news: we have
started English classes again at the building, and we have had five regular
students! The first week we actually had ten, but only have returned. Because
two of them were more advanced, Kevin decided to make a class for them and I
began teaching the other three. We pray that as the weeks progress they will
not only improve in English, but the Bible classes we have after each English
class will cause them to give their lives to Christ.
We have several that we’d
like to ask you to remember in your prayers:
Thank you for continuing to
remember us in your prayers. We really enjoyed spending time with our family at
Parkway a few weeks ago, and we look forward to a visit from y’all soon!
