Tapscott’s monthly newsletter for January 2005

May the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ continue to strengthen you all as you strive to serve him in this world. We had such a wonderful visit there at Parkway Drive in Lubbock for Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend. It was great to be able to see our Christian family again and share with you the work that is going on down here in El Paso. Mayela and her kids were also very impressed by your love and openness. She asked us, “Why did you leave this place?”

Of course, we all know the reason why we left Lubbock. Y’all at Parkway were witnesses to the things happening down here after seeing the presentation on Sunday night. Difficult work…Absolutely! Rewarding…absolutely! In fact, as I was contemplating this week what to write about for this newsletter, we were blessed with the greatest gift a Christian can receive on this earth…a new baby sister in Christ! One of the teens in Montana Vista, Rubi Hernandez (age 14), just got baptized last night (January 21)! She has been thinking about it for quite a while, but finally decided that she wanted to be part of God’s kingdom when he comes to take us home. What a wonderful way to start the new year!

Please pray for Rubi as she begins her journey and faces the onslaught of the devil (which we KNOW is coming). Now two of the three teens that regularly attend our classes have given their lives to Christ. We also ask that you continue to pray for Mayela and her family, for Vero and Pedro, Sylvia and family, Susy and family, and this congregation as a whole. Remember, be all you can be – join God’s CORPS of soldiers (Communicate clearly, Open doors, Respond to the gospel, Protect his people, Speak boldly)!

I will, over the next few weeks, take some of the pictures from the slide presentation and place them on the website for y’all to see. Until then, keep those images in your hearts! It will strengthen the saints here to know that there is a wonderful, diverse body of believers praying for them.

I would also like to thank all those who have sent gifts, clothes, and hygiene products to the people here. What a great door this opened for us! We filled the entire living area of the church home with neighbors when we handed out gifts! Imagine all those ears that got to hear the wonderful gospel message. Perhaps one of the seeds scattered will take root and grow in someone’s heart so that he, too, can know the love that is in Christ Jesus.

Some of the points to consider in your prayers:

Thank you for sending us the greatest support possible – your time in prayer!

In Christ,
