Misión Montana Vista
Montgomery Family Newsletter, November 2003

Dearest brethren,
Last month we mentioned that we were needing more "vacitos" (little communion cups).  This month was more chairs!  The women's study used all the chairs we had in the house and so I had to work on my computer sitting on my filing cabinet!!  Thankfully we were able to take a few chairs from the house where we're meeting for services for the next times.  But, it sure felt good to have so many ladies in our house that I ended up on my filing cabinet!  Praise God for bringing more and more ladies to the study that Alicia and Romy are leading.  God is certainly working mightily through them!

October also began with a medical mission to Jurez.   Over the 9-11th of October a group made up primarily of brothers and sisters from churches in Ft. Sumner, NM, Sante Fe, NM, & Tulsa, OK. For those of you at Hobbs who know the Hayhursts, I got the chance to work along side Dotty for a couple of days during the campaign! The group worked out of three different church buildings in Jurez over the three day period; doing everything from helping medically, cutting hair, fitting glasses to washing feet!  The Lord blessed the work with two baptisms during the mission trip and numerous leads for the missionaries there to follow up on.  On a personal note, it also helped me learn better how to direct and prepare a medical mission for the future.

During the month of October the church had to make one of its first major decisions.  Until this point we've been meeting in a house being rented by Paul and Gloria Gonzales here in Montana Vista.  Although they will continue to work with us here in Montana Vista, Paul and Gloria decided to buy a house in east El Paso thus moving from the house here.  After a couple of weeks of prayer and discussion the church decided to continue  renting the same house because it was already known in the neighborhood as where we meet, it has "class-rooms" and is relatively inexpensive compared to the other options we looked at.  Although this seems relatively unimportant on the surface, it was great to hear the young Christians thinking about the decision from a spiritual point of view and the spiritual implications in each choice.  I believe it was an important moment for spiritual growth among the people here.

Prayer concerns:
As mentioned last time, Ramiro, Beto, Jos, Mayela, visitors at the congregation (Sylvia, Veronica), and that God will continue to till the soil here in Montana Vista to give us opportunities to plant seeds.

May God richly and deeply bless you all,
Kevin, Alicia and Bethany Montgomery
