Misión Montana Vista
Montgomery Family Newsletter, October 2003
Greetings to all,
September, much like August, came and went quickly! We are beginning to feel more and more settled into the work here (and boy does it feel good!). The family is doing well overall, having the normal sinus and allergy problems associated with living in the desert, but nothing too serious. Bethany is getting around faster every moment and saying more and more words (some of here favorites are “banana” and “ouch” pronounced more like “oush”). So the family is definitely doing well, thankfully.
The work also is going well we believe. The best way to explain this is something that Paul Gonzales, one of the others here in Montana Vista, said a few weeks ago in services. Just before the Lord’s Supper he noticed that to accommodate for more people had to place more “vasitos” (little cups) in the communion trays to have enough! In fact, were are averaging 36 per Sunday worship! What a great thing . . .I wish all of God’s congregations would need more “vasitos”!
Here is a list of some of the other things that took place in September:
1. Sept. 14, Ramiro was baptized into the Lord! Praise God! He’s a retired man who found the Lord late in life but is now very excited to learn more and grow!
2. I have been having an opportunity to spend time with José, one of the younger men, getting to know him and hopefully helping him grow spiritually.
3. Alicia continues to be involved in teaching and helping the ladies studies.
4. I have also began teaching a Bible study on Mondays in conjunction with an English class offered at Eastwood. Students come for one hour of English and then one hour of Bible. There are between 10-15 students each week, so several are getting the chance to hear the good news about Christ. Naturally it is also helping my Spanish!! PLEASE pray for this opportunity. Many good things are already coming out of this and many more could in the future. In fact, we hope to begin classes in Montana Vista next year.
5. I also began a study with a man named Beto who had been attending the Bible study on Mondays mentioned above. He doesn’t come for the English but is so interested in studying God’s word that he doesn’t want to miss a chance to learn more about the word of God and comes anyway!
Please keep praying for all those mentioned above: Ramiro, Beto, José, and the church as a whole here in Montana Vista. Another special prayer request is for one of our members Mayela who is going through a very difficult time right now. Thank you very much for your concern for the lost and may God richly bless your diligence in sowing seeds!
In Him,
Kevin, Alicia and Bethany Montgomery
