Misión Montana Vista Montgomery Family Newsletter, August/September 2004
I'm sure many of you would agree that the last two months have been a blur. As many of you know we moved from the house we were renting into a mobile home the last weekend of August. Since we only moved 6 blocks from our previous location, things went smoothly. For those who do not already have either the new address and/or telephone, here it is:
14521 Montana Ave. Space 32 El Paso, TX 79938 Tel: (915) 921-8141 e-mail: [email protected]
In the midst of our move, God was busy too! I was blessed with baptizing two new brothers, Eddie Prestwood and Oscar Salgado, into Christ on Sept. 7. Driving home from the baptism it struck me what marvelous things I just got to see. I saw an old man become a baby (Eddie is in his mid 70's) and a once homeless man (Oscar) become an heir to all the eternal blessings imaginable! What an awesome God we serve! This was a particularly amazing baptism for Eddie, however. In all of his 70+ years he had NEVER stepped foot into either a swimming pool, lake, or any other body of water due to a terrible fear of water (I think that's why he moved to El Paso, ha ha)! Thankfully his desire to obey God overcame his fears. Please keep these two brothers in your prayers as they begin their new walk in Christ.
During the last two months, we've also been blessed with visits and gifts from dear friends and family. In the first part of August, Sunny and Gency Lee, from the Parkway Drive church in Lubbock, brought a trailer load of clothing to be given away. It was wonderful catching up on news of our brothers and sisters there. We cannot tell each of you how much we appreciate your participation in the work here through your gifts; they have already been put to use. The week following their visit, the ladies sorted and arranged the clothing so that we could invite those in the neighborhood to come and pick out some clothing that they might need. While they were there, I gave a brief lesson on being "clothed with Christ" from Galatians 3 to encourage them to see the importance of thinking beyond the here and now. Through this, I believe, God opened the doors of several households near where we are meeting for worship.
On a similar note, we were greatly blessed by the church in Hobbs with a trailer load of donations as well. Thank you for sharing both the clothes as well as the church materials, Bibles, plastic utensils, toys, and . . .and . . . (the list could go on and on!!). We've already put the Bible class materials and Bibles to good use. We're planning another day to invite other neighbors and people from the community to hand out clothes and impart some of God's word. I believe the Lord will open even more doors through these gifts as well. Thank you again.
We love and miss you all. Grace and Peace in our Lord Jesus Christ,
