Misión Montana Vista
Montgomery Family Newsletter, February 2004

Happy New Year to all and I truly hope God is blessing you richly as we continue onward into 2004.  Along with a new year came several new changes here in Montana Vista.  The most significant were the changes in our meeting time and consequently changes in personnel.  As many of you know we had been meeting only on Sunday evenings due to schedule conflicts.  After much prayer and thought, beginning in February the church decided to meet on Sunday mornings.  We all believe that this time will help in evangelism because the culture here (like in most places I know) really places church attendance on Sunday mornings.  Several of our members had invited friends to come to services and were rejected when their friends found out that we were meeting in the evenings.  So, we believe this move will greatly increase our attendance in the long run.  In the coming weeks, however, we are a slightly smaller group.  Unfortunately for us (but fortunate for God’s kingdom) Paul and Gloria will remain working at Eastwood church of Christ and will only have limited activity here.  Likewise several brothers and sisters that had been coming to our services will focus on serving at the Eastwood congregation.  Thus, our numbers are slightly smaller but I believe this will not be for long!!

Some other exciting activities that have been going on since the beginning of the year are as follows:

•    Alicia began a discipleship class with three of the ladies here to show them how to study and present lessons just as Paul commands Timothy (“The things you heard from me . . . entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also” 2 Tim. 2:2) These are going VERY well and will show their fruit in the months and years to come!
•    Saturday before we changed times we had the core group knock doors around the building, telling them of our time change and inviting them to our services. It was great to see everyone’s involvement!
•    Ladies class continues to be a big hit!  Even as I write this letter my house is filled with ladies learning about Biblical repentance from Alicia.  Praise God for his work here among these ladies!
•    The members of the church here are continuing to invite and encourage their friends to study and visit our services.  I’ve been blessed to meet many new souls that are interested in learning about the Messiah through individual members.  Please, please pray that this will continue and only grow! Some specific individual that need our prayers in this regard are: Juan and Aidé (pronounced “I-day”), Suzi and Lalo, Erica and Santiago, Elva, Vero and Ramona.

The Montgomery family continues to do well overall. We are still fighting colds/flues but are relatively healthy at the moment, thankfully.  Alicia continues to teach both ladies’ class and the discipleship classes, while helping teach the children’s classes on Sunday.  Needless to say, she keeps herself busy!  I’m continuing to teach English/Bible two nights a week and teach a youth class or adult class each Sunday (Lonnie and I take turns between the two).  Bethany, well . . . she continues to be really cute! She’s learning more and more words in both languages.  In fact she’s become thoroughly adept at speaking Spanglish (English/Spanish mix). She told Alicia the other day that her food was “muy hot.” We live on the boarder, what can we expect!!

May God richly bless each of you, and may you keep serving the King.

Under His command,
Kevin, Alicia and Bethany Montgomery
