| JIM'S JEEP WRANGLER 5.0 CONVERSION |
|
| This Jeep was a 4 banger. My Dad rebuilt the 5.0 engine, AOD trans, and Jeep transfer case. Installed a 2" body lift. After he had everything rebuilt it took us about 10 days to complete. Motor mounts from Advanced Adapters were used, they still needed a lot of fabrication. The trans mount was modified to work. And an adapter from Advanced Adaptors was used to mate the tranny to the transfer case. We fabricated the exhaust using a 2.5" J pipe, a 2.5" U pipe, a Flowmaster Y pipe, dual 2.5" to 3", a 3" cat., a 3" 30 series Flowmaster muffler, and a 3" Flowmaster universal exhaust pipe kit. BBK shorty headers and Flowmaster stubs were used. We had to move the position of the oxygen sensor bungs. The stock gas tank pickup was modified to accept a Mustang intank electric pump. All new Ford Motorsport wiring harnesses, sensors, and computer were used and adapted to the stock wiring harness. The front drivshaft was lenghtened and the rear shortened. The radiator is an aluminum Griffin. The engine has KB 9:1 pistons, Crane hyd roller cam, stock intake, 65MM throttle body, stock injectors and MAF. MY dad did a little port cleanup on the stock 90 Mustang heads, grinding off the thermactor hump in the process. We are both very happy with the results, the engine looks almost factory. |
