Morality

What are morals? What is and isnt moral has been determined by the greater public throughout time. For the most part, influence for the greater public has been religious, most commonly Christianity. Just as in politics, majority rules.

Dr. Laura Shlesenger, a radio/television show psychologist, once stated that ...morality by consensus is completely wrong.... Yet, that is exactly what morality is!! It is what the greater people consider right!! Dr. Laura, by the way, is stereotypically Jewish in her ideals. (I dont necessarily feel that is bad or wrong). See http://drlaura.com for more information.

If what we call moral wasnt followed or practiced by the greater people, then it would be obsolete and there would be no use for the word. I am not saying it is good or bad, that is totally up to you. I am just annoyed by the Christian influence behind it. That is how it becomes immoral and wrong to practice other faiths and belief systems. And as we all know, anything considered immoral is also considered EVIL.

As you may or may not have noticed, the moral code is ever changing just as people change. Twenty years ago, you didnt have near the amount of sex or violence on television as you see today. Fifty years past, few dared to openly denounce the Christian god. In todays restless world, the penalty for murder has become softer compared to ten years ago. Kind of makes you wonder how long it will be before murder, rape, theft are accepted all over the world as a part of normal life??

Should you follow the moral code? For the most part, it makes human relations much easier. Always remember though, freedom of religion means any religion, and people cannot take that away. Well, then again there were the Crusades....
