Astral Plane

    The astral plane is around our physical plane at all times, and vise-versa. They are one in the same. It is made up of pure energy. As we know, we cannot "see" energy, (we just know it exists), hence we cannot "see" the astral plane.

      Those who experience OBE, (out of body experience), have their spirit, or astral, exit their physical  body, and "enter" or cross over to the astral plane. The spirit isn't going to a far-off place to make this jump, nor to the heavens.  When it exits the body, it is immediately in the astral.
 
      Once in the astral plane, a person (spirit) can travel anywhere in the universe. They have no limitations or restrictions, can do anything if they set their mind (spiritual mind) to the task. In the astral plane a person cannot mask or hide their true selfs, unlike the physical plane. The astral, made up of pure energy, and no mass, makes it impossible to carry with you any physical manipulations. In essence, you are what you are in the astral.
     
      Those who have ever had an OBE, know that in the astral, things do not always look exactly like they do in the physical. For instance, you may be seeing your living room, but the front door is missing, or there is a purple hue all about, or it could look something like  abstract art. There is a very simple explaination for all of this. We learned in science classes that no two bodies or energies can occupy the exact space or time.  The two planes do not exactly mesh together. The astral, made up of pure energies, is always a "step ahead" of the heavier physical plane. The effect is something like looking through a stained glass window. But, you are still seeing the physical plane.
