Two good pairs of walking shoes

Comfortable and casual clothes

Camera (make sure you have fully charged batteries), lots of film, or a Polaroid camera (guides, interpreters, officials and other families all love having a photo of themselves with the children and families)

Index cards or a small pocket organizer (for addresses, reminders, notes about the pictures you took)

Camcorder

Duct tape (for all kinds of things)

Hats and sunscreen

Comb, brush, hair dryer (AC adapter)

Umbrella

Two plastic containers to cool off sterilized water in your room

Calculator for exchange rates

Anti-bacterial wipes, Imodium AD, Pepto-Bismol, Tylenol, prescription antibiotic, written prescription for glasses

Good book, magazines, phrase book

Neck pillow for airplane (inflatable) and pillowcase

Food (instant soups) for meals in your room

Small flashlight

Mailing tube to carry artwork home

Alarm clock



Baby Items:

Resealable bags (useful for lots of things, including carrying formula)

Diapers (bring some, but you can also find them in China)

Baby wipes

Baby blankets and towel

Umbrella stroller

Sling or front pack

Age-appropriate toys (board books, keys, chewy for teething, mirror toys)

Soy formula (your child may be lactose intolerant)

Thermal bottle for keeping warm water for bottles

Age-appropriate snacks (Cheerios, graham crackers)

Baby nail clippers

Anbesol for teething, baby Tylenol, baby Tylenol cold or Dimetapp

Baby spoon and bowl

Baby cereal

Baby sun hat (can be hot, and this really helps) and sunscreen

Disposable bottles with round nipples and disposable liners

Clothes -- about nine outfits

Diaper changing pad

Drool bibs

Baby shampoo, baby lotion, Eucerin cream

Prescription antibiotic (in powder form)

Baby socks (again, a few different sizes)

Pacifiers (bring several styles -- it's hard to know which kind your baby will like)

Nasal bulb aspirator

Plastic box about the size of a shoebox

Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen

Cephalexin 250/s 200 ml

Oral decongestant (Dimetapp, Triaminic, Pediacare or Rescon)

Elimite 20 gm (for scabies and head lice)

Mytrex or Nystatin/Triamcinilone (for infected diaper rash)

Triple antibiotic ointment

Thermometer

Dosage spoon and dosage syringe

Measuring cup for Cephalexin

Bandages

Q-Tips

Diaper rash cream

Hydrocortisone cream 1% (for itching, rashes)

Sodium Sulamyd otic drops (for eye infections)

Rehydration salts or Pedialyte (for vomiting and diarrhea)
