- 11/10/02 - Prime Club, Cologne, Germaany

It was two o'clock in the afternoon and school was out for two weeks. I was really looking forward to the concert that evening: The Vines. But nobody told me about such a fucking inspired support band. So I didn't know and didn't expect one.

We (my sister, two of my friends...and me) went to the station in our hometown called Duisburg and waited for the train taking us to Cologne. Before this, we bought some delicious drinks to relax us. We were in a joking mood so we were laughing about a funky guy sitting next to us. Okay, back to the real theme: Arrival in Cologne. There we met two girls we got to know on the internet. To get to the Prime Club we still had to go by the underground railway. Almost fifteen minutes later we arrived at the Prime Club where the concert took place. Standing outside in front of the club we met two girls from our school also waiting for the inlet. Approximately half an hour later we got into the club and just ran to the front. Suddenly some guys standing on the stage played a really nice song. I just listened to that fucking good sound.

It seemed that nobody knew that band. Then Steve told us their name. At first, we didn't understand because it was said really unclearly but then he repeated it and everybody knew it was LONGWAVE. The atmosphere was incredible so everybody was jumping and enjoying the band. I think the best song they played was "Tidal Wave". I can't forget it.

When Steve and Co. left the stage, The Vines came to the front. I also enjoyed listening to them but in some way Longwave was much better. At ten o'clock in the evening we left the club and sat down on the stairs outside. Suddenly we saw Steve walking along the street. He came over and asked for our names and where we were from. We had a really nice conversation. Then he said "Wait a minute, I'll be back". He went to a snack bar. I could imagine that he was really hungry after such a great gig! He really enjoyed his turkish pizza! We talked a little while, then he had to go to the Blue Shell Club where the others were waiting for him. Alas we forgot to take some photos. So one of my friends and me got into the club and asked Mike to take a photo with us. "Why not?!", he said and another guy took the photo: "Click", then we had to go.

It was a great day and I'm looking forward to February 2003 when Longwave's CD will be available in stores.
