This page aims to honour the most famous local match within the world of football, which takes place twice during the English Premiership season. Once a season it is held at Old Trafford, Manchester United's home ground, and then the reverse fixture is held once a season at the Riverside, Middlesbrough's relatively new ground. The games are never a let down, with much action taking place, and some of the most spectacular goals within the English leagues can be seen during these much treasured occasions. On this page, you can read about the most recent encounters between these two teams, but first, some information about the two clubs and their locations will be given.

This, if you don't know already, is Great Britain (sort of)::

These are zoomed in parts of the above map:

Although it can be seen that Manchester and Middlesbrough are not actually that close on the map - DON'T BE FOOLED - looks can be deceptive, as to not call the games 'derby's' would be doing them a great injustice.

Here are some pictures from recent meetings:

10th April 2000 - Middlesbrough 3 Manchester United 4

29th January 2000 - Manchester United 1 Middlesbrough 0

9th May 1999 - Middlesbrough 0 Manchester United 1
