In aeons past, when dragons ruled the skies and earth, the universe of Trood was relatively peaceful.
Then the Time of the Rift occured, shattering the natural harmony as thousands from many races were brought into the universe through the Rift - a tear in the very fabric of time and space. Some of the races were good, others evil, yet each sought dominance and ultimately wars ensued, the likes of which Trood has yet to see again. For too long the forces of darkness swarmed the land and the dragons themselves seemed to retreat unto themselves.
At the darkest hour, when it seemed that the good races would finally be overcome, a stranger appeared. His name was, and remains to this day, unknown, going only by the simple name Longshadow. With jet black hair, black eyes and a simple black robe, he is not easily mistaken for anyone else. He carries no visible weapons, yet rumour has it that his knowledge of the magical arts is so great that his magic is faster than any blade ever could be drawn.
Some say he cannot be human as he has been travelling Trood since the first races arrived and walks with us still. Some say he is an avatar of the Gods, others that he is a powerful mage. None know of whence he came - his origins are as much a mystery as his heritage. Some say that he is not even of this universe, that he walks the gray void between worlds and universes with the same ease a fish would swim from one riverbank to another.
In those first days he bound together the kingdoms of Shallowgrave, Borg, Footstompers and TLC. However kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall, and later he joined the kingdoms of Shady Vale, hippy, omnius, midgetsRus and valimaar, and others still.
Each kingdom strives against the many denizens of evil, aiding each other in times of need with council or provisions, setting aside racial differences and squabbles, seeking instead to live life to the full - if one cannot have fun, then what is the point of existence?
And so the tradition continues, in the form of the Longshadow Offensive Alliance.
