If you ever wanted to give fly fishing a try, but didn’t know quite how to get started, LITU will provide you that opportunity when it again conducts Fly-Casting Clinics in October of 2008 and 2 in March of 2009.  All clinics run from 9:00AM until 12:00N, and includes in-class discussions of terminal tackle as it relates to fly-casting, an outdoor fly casting demonstration, and hands-on instruction. Equipment will be provided (on a share basis) for the outdoors practice sessions.  If you already have a fly rod and reel, there will be people to help set up your equipment between 8:30AM and 9:00AM.  Participants will also have an opportunity to win a quality piece of fly fishing tackle (T.B.A.), compliments of L.I.T.U., and will be invited to attend the Open House Meeting on Tuesday, March 17,  2009 at the Hicksville VFW Hall, 320 South Broadway, Hicksville, NY.  L.I.T.U. charges no fee to the participants for these clinics, however the Parks do charge the nominal car entrance fee. Contact Caleb Smith State Park Preserve at 631-265-1054, or Connetquot River State Park Preserve at 631-581-1005 for required reservations.   Call early because the clinics fill up quickly.
