Assessment and Evaluation

Teachers apply technology in a variety of effective assessment and  strategies.

Assessment is a must in education to ensure that students are learning.  It is important however that teachers do not just use one assessment.  The first is an example of a grade book using excel.  This shows scores from different measurements within the same subject area.  In each area I can see the high score and low score, this way I can see quickly which students understand the information and which students need some extra help.

A great way to analyze data is through the use of technology.  Every year teachers are given data scores from the STAR tests.  I took data from STAR testing and made graphs.  This allowed me to visually see where my students were at and where they needed to go.  If teachers are shown how to do this then it would definitely help drive instruction.

The last way to use technology is to create rubrics for your students.  Rubrics are a great way to assess and evaluate student work.  Rubrics allow students and teachers to focus on certain aspects of the project or assignment.  Students will know from the beginning what is being expected of them.  Rubrics also allow for teachers to see what a certain student needs help with.
