Reflection
I
had the opportunity in one of the
technology classes to use the CLRN website to search and locate a
resource that
met standards that I was teaching. At
the time, I was teaching fifth grade and found a particular source that
would
be very beneficial for my students.
During the course of finding out more about the
online product I
discovered that I would really like to use the program in my classroom. I contacted the publisher of the program and
he was very gracious to let my students and I have free access to the
online
website. www.thejwd.com
In return, I was to create a unit plan using this specific program and
submit
my finally copies to the publisher. This
was a time consuming project but I learned a lot along the way. I was able to map out a ten day schedule using
the website and came up with three additional assignments for the use
of assessment. On top of that, my students
thoroughly
enjoyed the program and it was very successful.
There
are three different programs
I used to create the next artifacts. The
first was using a web authoring program to create Here Ye, Here Ye
which is a
webquest created for fifth grade students in the area of the American
Revolution. Students are given a task to
create a newspaper. They are given step
by step directions to complete the task which is beneficial for all
learners. The webquest requires students
to view videos,
looks at websites, and use graphics. Next, I used PowerPoint to create
an
interactive learning tool for students to learn about pyramids. This lesson also requires students to use
information learned to complete a task.
The last program I used was Word to create a one
page information sheet
for students. Students were asked to
follow directions and use one piece of technology to complete a task.
