About the Rant:

We now know Ian hates Abercrombie & Fitch with a fiery passion. But does Ian know that it's not Abercrombie and Fitch who started these absurd profitable markets?

"I Hate That Moose"
By: Ian

Okay…so this is my first rant. It’s not going to be the most amazing one, it’s just something to start off with. And this is the only subject I could think of, so here goes…

I hate Abercrombie and Fitch with a fiery passion.

EVERYWHERE I turn in my school I see that little moose.

First of all, I don’t understand WHY people wear it. Does it make them feel cool? Honestly, their clothes aren’t that impressive.

Example A: THE INFAMOUS RIPPED JEANS! They cost 90 FUCKING DOLLARS for a pair of pants you could buy at Fred Meyer for less than a third of that price and RIP YOURSELF!

Example B: I saw someone wearing a shirt that was plain white and said “Abercrombie and Fitch” in pencil-like cursive. I COULD’VE MADE THAT SHIRT MYSELF! Sweat shops in China stitch the seams in these shirts for a dollar an hour… Tells you how much of a profit Abercrombie and Fitch are making… And the owner of this shirt probably paid at LEAST 40 bucks for it! Seriously.

Now, the polo shirts with the tiny moose in the upper right corner don‘t piss me off (even though they probably are still WAY overpriced) as much as the t-shirts that say “ABERCROMBIE AND FITCH” in gigantic letters. All that says to me is “HEY EVERYONE! LOOK AT ME! I WEAR ABERCROMBIE AND FUCKING FITCH! AM I COOL NOW??”

Okay, so at this point you’re probably thinking, “Okay, Ian, so you hate Abercrombie and Fitch because they’re overly priced clothes. So what’s the big deal? Let people buy what they want, it’s THEIR money!!! MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS YOU INCONSIDERATE, FLAMING DOUCHE BAG!!!!!” Well, don’t think I don’t have other reasons for hating them. I wonder what percentage of the people who wear Abercrombie realize it is a racist company. They didn’t hire any non-White models or EVEN non-white employees to work for them until as recently as a few months ago! There was a lawsuit on account of discrimination, and the judge granted the final approval of the settlement in April of 2005 (see AF Justice for more details).

Now, don’t think I’ll disown you as a friend if you wear Abercrombie and Fitch, it’s your decision. I just thought I should let everyone know what they should know about this company before choosing to purchase its products.
