"Holy War"
By: Chase
Hello again dear web people, Hello again dear web people, welcome to my second essay. It has been many months since my last post, for this, I apologize. In the last few months a lot has happened. We've got our own web domain for starts, and a great new site layout thanks to Blake and Kevin. Anyway, here's the meat.
Everyone knows what’s fueling the war in the Middle East. Its all politics and economics, isn't it? Well, be that as it may, there is a far more insidious aspect to it all. You see, for centuries before the common era, the Middle East was a focal point for many of the technologies and ways of thought we hold dear to us today. Algebra for example, was developed by Muslim mathematicians, as well as firearms, the use of oil, and paper. this is just scratching the surface, but it gets the point across. Anyway, for all this time the Muslim culture was considered highly advanced. However, after the crusades of the thirteen hundreds, the Middle East lost a lot of its grandeur, and, thanks to poor political leadership, kept falling lower on the scale of advancement until today.
Despite the huge amount of time that has passed, the Middle East is still definitely more than a little spiteful (remember this is just my opinion). So, after all this time, and all these years of people becoming culturally trained to be zealots, the people who want to gain power use religion and anger to claim it. This is why the war is really happening, it all boils down to religious squalor and people taking advantage of it (not to mention the general stupidity of the Muslim population, along with people of the world in general).
I'm surprised how many people are still thinking that this war is just about money or oil or warmongering. So far about 80% of the people I've talked to spit the same bullshit that was force fed to them. people just don't want to think that religion in general is the cause of these feuds, so many people say that their "right" religion would never cause a war, but if you look back through history you will see wars started for the ideals of hundreds of religions, including Christianity. It has been proven over and over again that history has a tendency to repeat itself.
And, if you think this is the only evidence of religion fucking up things, guess again. First of all, look at the Catholic (Ian) priest rape issue, the Catholic church never tries to arrest or even remove the priests, rather, they attempt to cover it up. Its not because its a small occurrence and they don't it tarnishing their record, its because this is a clergy wide epidemic.
Anyways.......
sincerely, Chase
