Alfa Tango DXpeditions

As we are still fairly new to international DXing, we are not very experienced in this area. From what we can tell, a DXpedition is an expedition where a team of operators set up a radio station in a remote or hard to reach area so other operators can confirm that division. Usually in this kind of contest, you are required to send $1.00 with your QSL to help fund this project. You will most likely receive the smallest and lightest of confirmations when they return so as not to spend all the proceeds. Be careful of fake contests. Speaking from experience. When you hear a DXpedition, listen for the division and manager. Call to the station, "CQ" to the station and broadcast your call sign. Listen for the DXpedition operator to say your call sign, acknowledging they heard you. Repeat your call sign if needed, but don't repeat their call sign. They know who they are. They will then give you a "progressive number" which is a log number of their contact with you. Usually they use a manager who is listed in the Alfa Tango directory so you will not need to ask for their coordinations. Repeat your progressive number to the DXpedition operator, thank them and make way for others. Mail your card and $1.00 to the address of the manager of the contest. Then sit and wait.
