When A Wolf Crossed My Path
A corner of the woods doth trace a winding path,
For the grass and pebbles leaves a distinct way,
Many a days I have walked along this trodden path
The way to the river is my recluse when the sun doth set.
Across my path one night a wolf doth cross,
Into the woods her shadow my eyes followed,
I looked I serached her sight not found,
I continued my walk to my river bank.
Every day walked I this regular path,
My senses turned to this elusive wolf,
Then one day she crossed again my way,
She turned, her eyes locked my very soul.
For a short moment her eyes my rapture held,
My inner self her eyes doth search,
A delight, a joyous feeling my senses fill,
She turned, she slipped into the quiet woods.
For many moons this rendezvous my wolf came,
My presence she sometimes doth wait,
My thoughts from my heart she seems to hear,
My joys, my sorrow, my laughter, my cries I reveal.
A few paces I boldly took to invade her soul,
This wolf that I gave my love night by night,
Aloof she stood arduously in her stand,
She fears not of me, of what I may do.
Wise Old Li I told him of my exotic wolf,
He said to love the wolf is not to possess,
The wolf spirit must be free to roam,
Show her you love, your care to touch her heart.
Only moments each night I watch her move,
I bid her join in my travels to be free to love,
She takes not my hand, she gives not her heart,
This journey of life she dare not plunge.
Life is an adventure in it's mysterious way,
'Tis time for the journey with the wolf to end,
If destiny allows, the wolf will track my path,
For I have chosen to take another route.
