Footprints in the Snow
The quiet morning repeats the night's
glow
The wings of birds interrupt the still air
One bird stirs slowly from the forest
Upon a single branch he perched awhile
All souls find their own shelter
Even a short time he stops to watch
Reminds me of a friend I had
He fanned his wings and rose to the sky
Forgetting how we shared the times
How we talked of life's burdens
He leaves only footprints behind
For me to thread when the path is clear
My life's path has changed it's course
The most beautiful part of my life has come
And it's you who carved a name in my heart
But even as the snow covers the footprints
I know they are there when destiny beckons
For these footprints will wait for me.
