| Since I 've been able to devote more time into pet rescue I've noticed that many other species go un-noticed. For example the Cats, Rabbits, Hamsters, Guinea Pigs and Birds. A rabbit has a personality similar to the cat. It uses a litter box, plays with small toys, loves affection and socialiation with others. A bird will sing your woes away as well as talk to you if you'll just take time to carry on a conversation. A Hamster is small and one in which you really can't get on the floor and roll around with but they're a great stress reliever. Watching them crawl through their tunnels, race on their wheels or simply just watching them pick up their food with their paws is entertaining.. Guinea Pig are fun to listen too. It's as though their trying to tell you something in a voice from outter space and if they don't have a smooth doo they look like their having a bad hair day every day. Now as for "The Cat"...Cat's Rule, Dogs Drool. True, but they learn to be submissive to their canine companions if introduced correctly. Many deem the cat useless but for the less active personality a cat brings serenity and unconditional love and NO SLOBBER! They don't require much upkeep, they bathe themselves, use the litterbox and don't bark. When considering your next best friend please consider one of the aformentioned who are in desperate need of a good home. So many are given as gifts to small children who get tired of them and then the parent doesn't want the responsiblity. In the end these pets are either left to fend for themselves or given up to shelters. I grew with a special song embedded into my heart called "His Eye is on the Sparrow". God does take care of His creatures but I believe he's given us the responsiblity to care for them as well. It builds character, instills into our hearts a desire to help others as well as shows us what it's like to be helpless and need of others. |
