Home for the Holidays!
Although Loving A.R.M.S. is not an animal shelter, foster care program nor is it a "Rescue Group", the whole purpose of it's existence is for the well being of the animals. Whether it's finding homes for unwanted or abused animals or just someone needing advice or a rescue group looking for items to accomodate them, that is what it's all about. This year several dogs will be in their new "Homes for the Holidays". I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to those who opened their hearts and their homes to these sweet creatures of the Almighty. I recently got a comment from someone who said "anyone who rescues animals, there's a special place in heaven for them". I don't know about that but I do know that it makes God happy when we take care of his animals who can't take care of themselves.  Listed below are the rescues for this year along with a short note of their rescue, their new owner and their picture.
Meet Alex. He was tied up with a rope to his back deck which gave him no shelter. Unfortunately, the day Alex was supposed to be picked up by his new owner he ran away from home. Despite the many attempts to find him, he never returned. We can only hope he has found a forever loving home who will give him the love he never had.
Meet Colt. Isn't he gorgeous?! Colt wasn't an abused case but if his mother was allowed to continue breeding she'd be bordering on an abusive case. Colt came from a family who just got into breeding labs. Unfortunately, they decided to do this at a time they didn't have the funds to do so; therefore, no shots were given, no deworming at the appropriate time and that caused minor problems such as ringworm on the skin that caused hairloss, roundworms and conjunctivitus in the eyes. Fortunately with the love of his new owner Bill Haskins, Colt received the treatments he needed to be up to par on his health and as you can see, he's a beautiful big boy. Colt share's his home with a little boy named Jordan who runs and plays with him and gives him the love he was meant to have every day. Thanks Bill for opening your home to Colt.
Meet Sasha. She was rescued in Copperhill, TN from a sad situation. Her owner was breeding Sasha's mother and father and selling the puppies but not providing the proper care while doing so. The aunt of the owner came to live with them and was heart broken over the conditions the dogs were living. Chained to a tree with no shelter and at times they had no food or water as well as no human affection. Sasha and her sibling, Sheba from a previous litter weren't sold and were only getting older and not receiving the proper care such as shots, spaying, etc.. The aunt took care of all their needs as much as she could. She even went as far as purchasing a very expensive dog run for Sasha's parents as well as dog houses. The dogs were loved and well taken care of while the aunt was living with them but it came time for her to get her own place and she couldn't take them with her. She had 5 dogs of her own. She also needed to take the dog run with her to her new home for her own pets but knew if she did then Sasha, Sheba and their parents would be put back on chains for the cold months of winter as well as the scorching days of summer with no shelter. She decided to keep the run and dog houses for the parents since I rescued Sasha and all we had to do was find a home for Sheba. After sendind off my Halloween Pet Tip newsletter I found a home for Sheba and drove back to TN and rescued her. Sasha is in a forever loving home with my sister Tina and her kids  along with Cato who's rescue is listed below.  Sheba did go to a very loving home after being rescued; however,  due to unfortunate circumstances she couldn't stay. She did however end up in a very good home.......MINE!     Can you say SUCKER!   I think she planned it.
Sheba's picture coming soon.
This isn't necessarily a rescue but I had to share this about a new adoption. Alex the yellow lab who was featured first on "Home for the Holidays" was on his way to having a new family when he decided he had enough living on a chain and ran away a few days before he was to be adopted. The family that was going to adopt Alex was devestated to say the least and searched the pound for several days but he never showed up. As I mentioned above, we can only hope Alex found a new home. In the meantime I was looking into adopting a rabbit and the lady whom I was considering the adoption from had a Husky she was trying to find a good home. Although Jake had a wonderful home with her, she wasn't able to devote the time to him that he needed and she wanted the best for him. It didn't dawn on me until after I hung up with her that he couldn't go to a better home then that for which Alex was intended to go too. "Jake" the Husky is now living with Teri, a good friend from work and her two grown kids. The best part of the whole story is the fact that this is the very FIRST Dog! What a great Christmas gift for the entire family including Jake.
Jake's picture coming soon.
Here's a sad story with a happy ending. Meet Penny and Angel. Their owner passed away and they went to live with the owner's grand-daughter. They were so pampered by this woman's grandmother that her search for the perfect home became her daily task. I saw her plea in an email sent to me from the GA Animal Welfare Group for which I am part of and knew of two perfect homes.
