Dove's (Personal) Review:  A fine collection of Western writers sharing some of their best short fiction!
     This anthology includes:

A Job for a Ranger, by Louis L'Amour
Sundown, by Troy D. Smith
The Plum Creek Fight, by Dusty Richards
Time of the Gun-Wolves, by James Reasoner
Requiem for Lost Souls, by Randy Lee Eickhoff
One and Four, by Robert J. Randisi
Ghost Colts, by Peter Brandvold
In the Line of Duty, by Elmer Kelton
The Blue Burro, by L.J. Washburn
A Border Dispute, by Rod Miller
Dead Man's Gun, by Ed Gorman
One Hundred and Two Days, by Marcus Galloway
I'm not gonna sit here writing reviews for each individual story. I don't have time to do that, and I'm sure you don't have time to read it, LOL.
The book [in it's entirety] is a pleasure to read. I'm not a big fan of anthologies, but when I saw this one included stories by two of my favorite authors (Louis L'Amour, Elmer Kelton), I just had to explore it's pages. In doing so, I ended up enjoying all the stories equally.
If I was forced to pick a favorite, I'd have to say it's "Ghost Colts," by Peter Brandvold. This one gave me chills! I think I'll have to give Brandvold's work a more thorough examination. He's a writer I've never heard of before, so I'm hoping he's written some full-length novels. I'll have to check the shelves the next time I'm in Barnes & Noble. He's definitely an author I'd like to hear more from!
"Lone Star Law" is time well spent! TWO THUMBS UP!!! GOLD STAR!!!
