Dove's (Personal) Review:  "HiA" consists of five short-stories: "Low Men in Yellow Coats," "Hearts in Atlantis," "Blind Willie," "Why We're in Vietnam," and "Heavenly Shades of Night Are Falling." Though they can be read as separate stories, they also blend together (rather roughly) when read as a complete novel.
This is not one of my favorite King books. The "Dark Tower" references in this book are major, and since I haven't read the "DT Series" yet, I think that's hindered my interpretation.
If you're a "Dark Tower Junkie," then "Hearts" is for you! If not, then I think there'll be many references in this book that you just won't understand. I recommend reading the Dark Tower series BEFORE you attempt "Hearts in Atlantis."
The coolest thing I can think of to say about this book is: if you were lucky, and bought your first-edition copy at Walden Books when it was released, you also received some Stephen King dog-tags! They are a very cute SK Collector's item, in my humble opinion... and some folks also received some "HiA" playing cards with their ARC copy. (HINT: They turn up on eBay every now n' then, so keep your eyes peeled, if you're trying to find a set!)
However, since I'm not reviewing dog-tags and playing cards, LOL, I have to give "HiA" a TWO-THUMBS-UP (it was a pretty good story, just not great!), but no GOLD-STAR for this one.
