Dove's (Personal) Review: I must say that I've been a Stephen King fan for many, many years. I've read almost everything he's written (excluding the Dark Tower books. Haven't gotten to them yet). Considering he's written, what(?), fifty books now, I think I can honestly say I've enjoyed 95% of them. There's only a few that didn't agree with me: "Gerald's Game," "Dreamcatcher," and "Hearts in Atlantis" was so-so. Some of it I totally dug, some of it I didn't.... and now, "From A Buick 8" joins those three.
I think SK's heart was in the right spot when he wrote this one, but his mind wasn't. Now, I'm not into "book bashing," so I won't do that here (or anywhere), and I'm definitely not into "author bashing," so you won't find any of that here either.
The only negative opinion I'm willing to offer here is that, to me, "From A Buick 8" could have just as easily been titled, "Christine, The Millennium Edition." Basically, that's all I have to say.
Since I prefer talking about positive stuff... I will add that "From A Buick 8's" cover-art is gorgeous! I send a "shout-out" of thanks to Mark Stutzman for the jacket illustration!!! And another "thank you" should go out to Chris Buck for the wonderful photo of King, on the inside, back panel. It's a great photo of SK!!! And the "Author's Note" at the end of the book is very enjoyable! I always love it when he shares "inside information" about his writing process, and where/how he gets his ideas.
Other than that though... sorry, folks. "From A Buick 8" gets a TWO-THUMBS-DOWN rating. I think if you've already read "Christine," you won't be missing much if you DON'T read "From A Buick 8."
