Another Otakon, another dramatic skit, another Otakon with nary an award. Ah well. So it goes. We all had fun, anyway. And, we looked AWESOME this year, if I do say so myself. For Otakon this year, several factors went into our decision to do another Angel Sanctuary skit. Dark Muffins has gotten rather HUGE (currently at 25 members, not all of whom have been on stage yet), so we've decided to split into two smaller groups. Some of our members have moved away from our home base of Hampton Roads, so it's not as convenient to all work together each con. That's not to say we won't ever do another skit as a big group, but not for the time being. Since this was the last con where everyone was going under Dark Muffins, we decided to go retro and revisit our first cosplay experience. We've come full circle, as it were. Plus, we love the manga^^. The final skit was excellent, and, although we didn't win anything, I think shows exactly how far we've come since "Messiah" two years ago. |

The angel Catan, servant of the Inorganic Angel Rosiel, walks past them, on his quest to revive his master. Setsuna and Sara both will play a part in Rosiel's new schemes. |

Catan succeeds in awakening Rosiel, who is initally weak from his slumber. He commands Catan to begin his plan. Mission: Awaken Rosiel's sister (and object of desire) the Organic Angel Alexiel, who is sleeping in the body of Setsuna Mudo. |

|
|
In order to awaken Alexiel, Rosiel plans to use Sara as bait for Setsuna. The boy's rage will cause Alexiel's soul to be reborn. Catan takes Sara. Setsuna tries to go after her, but Aracuna, a demon loyal to Alexiel and sworn to protect her, holds him back. |

Aracuna desperately tries to keep Setsuna from attacking Catan. The boy cannot beat the angel on his own, and neither Aracuna, or his fellow demon Kurai, can match Catan and Rosiel either.
Rosiel takes Sara and advances on Setsuna. Kurai throws herself in front of the angel, ready to try and fight, but Rosiel only grins. He snaps Sara's neck. |

|
A stunned Aracuna lets go of Setsuna, who rushes to his sister's body. Kurai looks on, horrified, as Rosiel and Catan walk away, grinning. She rushes to comfort Setsuna, but he steals her dagger and plunges it into his heart, dying atop his sister's body. Kurai and Aracuna retreat in shock and sorrow. |

The Mad Hatter, a demon second to Lucifer himself, appears and resurrects both Setsuna and Sara. Catan pushes Setsuna away as Rosiel grabs the disoriented girl. The two angels lead Sara away, as Lucifer himself comes to Setsuna, embracing him. Lucifer is an old friend of Alexiel's, and entrusts her incarnation with the seven-bladed soul sword. |

The sword will awaken Setsuna's memories of Alexiel. MIssion accomplished, the Mad Hatter and Lucifer descend back to Hell, hand in hand. Setsuna kneels as the memories of who he was resurface, and Alexiel begins to be realized. |

|
|
|
(Since we can't have Charles actually turn into Melanie, work with us). Alexiel is reborn. She takes the sword from Setsuna, who crumples to the ground, unconsious. Alexiel raises the blade triumphantly into the air as her memories return. |

|
This is what Rosiel has been waiting for. He takes his sister and begins to lead her away, where they share a moment. Meanwhile, Aracuna has turned traitor, and brings a captive Kurai to Catan. Catan kills Aracuna for his "loyalty," but is himself killed by Lucifer before he can murder Kurai. Kurai clings to her master, frightened. |

Here is where it gets complicated. Uriel, one of the archangels, appears, bringing with him Gibrielle, who is the former life of Sara Mudo. Uriel is working for Rosiel. Gibrielle is little more than a doll. Also working with Rosiel is Sevotharte and her charge, the 5-year-old seeming voice of God, the Metatron. Poor Setsuna is still unconscious, Alexiel seems powerless, and Lucifer and Kurai are quite outnumbered. |

Lucifer reveals himself to be working for Rosiel as well. (Rosiel has the demon's soul on his belt). He shoves Kurai aside to attend his new master. Alexiel comforts the twice-betrayed demon girl, while Rosiel tosses his new henchman aside. Kurai pushes past Sevotharte and Metatron, who seem to be guarding Gibrielle, and revive Setsuna. The two try to rescue Gibrielle/Sara, but are pushed away by Rosiel, who collapses suddenly. Lucifer, now restored, comforts Kurai, while Setsuna sulks at his loss. Sevotharte and Metatron help Rosiel to his feet, but Rosiel betrays them both, killing Metatron and revealing the deformities covering Sevi's body. Sevi flails about in pain and horror, and is killed by Mad Hatter. Alexiel approches Rosiel, who offers her his hand. She kneels before him, and, as she takes it, drives the soul sword into his chest, killing him. |

Confused yet? It'd help if we had some more pictures, particularly from the end of the cosplay. The manga itself is very convoluted, and shoving it all into three minutes was quite a challenge. It all boils down to Rosiel screwing everyone over on his quest for power, but losing in the end to the honest intentions of his sister, and her desire to end the war between angels and demons. As for Setsuna and Sara, you'll just have to read the manga to find out how they turn out.... |
