Nekocon VI
Year three of cosplay got off to an interesting start for the Dark Muffins.  We did a very small skit at Nekocon this year, and a funny one, taking a break from our usual dramatic entrances.  This year, we opted for fan-service and comedy, which the audience loved.  Unfortunately, Virginia Beach Police did not love us, and ended up forcing our disqualification from the contest.  Oh well.  We went out to have fun, and we totally rocked!

The skit this Neko was inspired by our current darling of anime, Naruto.  It is very new, the manga having only been released over the summer through Shonen Jump, and we love it.  We also love old school music, hence our usage of the TMNT 2 theme, "Ninja Rap."  It also has the distinction of introducing our three newest members to the stage, Mike, Paul, and Amy.  They've been our friends for ages, but now we've suckered *ahem* convinced them to join us in cosplay madness.

Naruto and Kankero Neko enter and prepare to fight.  Sand versus Leaf!
Haku enters with our sign: Velcro, and our new Muffin symbol^^
Kankero is ready to kick some Leaf butt.
Naruto also prepares to kick butt.  Who will triumph in this serious fight?
Did we say serious fight?  That lasts about four seconds.  Naruto opens with a kick, which Kankero successfully defends.  Suddenly, odd music begins to play, and a glitter-and-glam Kakashi grooves out, interrupting the fight.  Kankero shakes his head and tries to ignore the bopping sensei, but Naruto digs his teacher's new moves.  The two dance together.
Just when Kankero thinks it can't get worse, Kakashi breaks out into rap.  He plays to the crowd, while Naruto dances solo. Lyric.
Naruto is joined by his fellow leaf ninjas: Sasuke (pictured), Kiba, Neji, and Rock Li.  The four dance as well.  It's choreographed!
Kankero: "What in the world is going on?"
Everyone takes a turn solo-dancing.  Sasuke walks like an Egyptian, then Rock Li does an Arsenio.
Neji does a retro 60s move, and Kiba does a mock-Charleston.  Finally, Naruto and Kankero do a booty dance, as the sand ninja finally gets into the spirit of things.
"It's ninja, ninja rap! Ninja, ninja rap!" "Go go go go! Go ninja, go ninja, go!"
The leaf ninjas huddle after the dance, as Naruto comes up with a plan to beat Kankero.
Naruto: "Sexy no jitsu!"
At Naruto's command, all the leaf ninja's execute the blonde's signature attack: change from teenage boys into voluptuous, mostly naked women. (*Note: since we don't have clouds of smoke, tearaway costumes and lingere served us well here.  This is the part we think the police had issue with, but we cleared it with the con in the morning!).  The now-female leaf ninja's blow a kiss, and Kankero Neko falls over, clutching at his bleeding nose.  The leaf ninjas have won the day!
Naruto and Kakashi stand back to back, smug because their plans have worked.  Sasuke, Kiba, Neji, and Rock Li all pose around them, showing off their perfect Sexy no Jistu transformations.  And thus begins year three.
