|
Nekocon V marks the one year anniversary of Dark Muffins Productions. This is the start of our new cosplay season. For our birthday cosplay, we wanted to do something that would showcase our abilities, which have been growing over the past year. We also wanted to do something that would let as many of us as possible have a moment on the stage. And, believe it or not, we wanted something a little more upbeat than our past season. So, in the storytelling tradition of "Messiah" and "Bloodust," DMP happily (and quite genkily) brought you our first Sailormoon cosplay. |

Plot: SMR in a nutshell, Muffin-style. We took plot points from the anime, manga, and even the musical, and put them together to give you a full and interesting take on the Dark Moon Saga.

Sailor Pluto waits for Chibiusa at the gate of time. She has given Chibiusa a time key so that she can return to the future and go home to her parents, Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion. |

Chibiusa gives her future parents a farewell hug. She heads to the center of the stage, raises her time key, and shouts, "Crystal Key, take me home!" |

Present Day Tokyo: Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Kamen wait for Chibiusa so they can say goodbye. She is their future daughter, after all. |
|

|
She doesn't make it home, however. The Black Moon family has come back from the future to kidnap Chibiusa and use her to take over Crystal Tokyo, the city in the future. Avery, one of the four sisters, stands ready to fight. |
|
|
|
The second sister, Catzy. The other two are presumably back at the Black Moon base on the planet Nemesis. Catzy and Avery work directly under Rubeus, Prince Diamond's fourth in command. |

Emerald, Sapphire, and Diamond prevent Chibiusa from seeking refuge with Sailor Pluto. Chibiusa tries to reach her future parents, but Catzy, Avery, and Rubeus block her way. Pluto and the others are helpless. |

Emerald and Sapphire, two more of the Black Moon family, await their chance to attack. Sapphire is the brother of Prince Diamond, leader of the Black Moon family. |

Rubeus grabs Chibiusa, prepared to bring her to Diamond. Tuxedo Kamen tries to help his future daughter, but Avery and Catzy prevent him from doing so. |

Sailor Moon managed to rescue her daughter briefly, but was captured by Avery, who tries to strangle her. Prince Diamond, intrigued by the beuaty of Sailor Moon, meanwhile, tells his brother to capture the senshi as well. |

|
Sailor Moon breaks free and challenges Rubeus. "Ai to Seigi no, Sailor-fuku bishoujo senshi, Sailor Moon! Tsukini kawatte oshyokyo!" |
|
|
|
Wiseman, Diamond's advisor, crosses the stage to take Chibiusa back to Nemesis. Meanwhile, Sailor Moon attacks Rubeus and heals Catzy and Avery, who leave to resume normal life. |
|
|
|
|

|
|
Sapphire reluctantly brings Sailor Moon to his smitten brother. Diamond hypnotizes Sailor Moon, as Wiseman hypnotizes Chibiusa. Both are taken away, much to Tuxedo Kamen's dismay. |

Emerald walks to the center to meet with Sapphire about the progress of the plan. |
|
|
|
|
|

|
|
Emerald and Sapphire. Sapphire looks toward his brother, who is coming to join them. (Note: Fansview apparently had technical difficulties at this point, because pics of about thirty seconds of cosplay are missing here). Wiseman crosses before them, and Emerald and Diamond bow. Diamond leaves to bring back his new favorite thing: hypnotized Sailor Moon. Sapphire is not pleased. Emerald kills Rubeus, despite his begging for mercy concerning failure. Following the Wiseman is an older, evil version of Chibiusa, the beautiful Black Lady, servant of the Doom Phantom, who carries the silver crystal from the future. Diamond comes back with Sailor Moon, holding her present-day silver crystal triumphantly. Diamond kisses Sailor Moon, which disgusts Emerald. Emerald slaps her aside. Diamond looks on helplessly as Black Lady kills Emerald and Wiseman kills Sapphire. He runs to Sapphire's corpse, and, furious, prepares to attack Wiseman, but is killed as he is about to strike. Wiseman takes the silver crystal from the dead Diamond, and gives it to Black Lady. |

|
|
Black Lady will unite the two crystals, bringing an end to the universe. However, Sailor Pluto intervenes, stopping the flow of time long enough for Sailor Moon to retrieve her own crystal. Black Lady kills Pluto as time resumes its flow, and, horrified at what she has done, collapses. Sailor Moon uses her silver crystal to fight Wiseman, now revealed to be the Doom Phantom. But, the entity seems to have the upper hand.... |

Suddenly, Chibiusa appears! The death of Pluto reverted Black Lady to her true form, the princess Small Lady. Brandishing her own crystal, she adds her power to Sailor Moon's attack. |
|
|
|
The combined power of Sailor Moon and Small Lady manages to defeat the Doom Phantom, who crumples to the floor, dead. The two embrace and pose for the audience, happy to have saved the world again. |
|
|
|
|
|
 |
|
|
|
And exit the Dark Muffins. A parting shot of Black Lady (it doesn't do her justice at all), Sapphire, and Tuxedo Kamen. How we fit SMR into two minutes and forty-five seconds, I do not know, but we managed it. The announcer seemed to really like us. His final speech about our group was, "And who says you can't do a really good dramatic Sailor Moon cosplay?" We had a blast, and were really proud of ourselves for this work. We even kept the tradition of bodily harm; Lauren scraped her knee on the stage, insuring our prize.^^ It isn't cosplay unless there's bodily injury. |
